a Biodiversity Project
North America has lost 30% of its birds in less than 50 years.
That's 3 BILLION birds lost since the 1970s. (Source)
A Biodiversity Project
IN JUST 50 YEARS
-
Monarch populations have crashed by 80%
-
We’ve lost 30% of all birds in North America
-
99% of prairies are lost - devastating grassland bird and pollinator populations
-
98% of longleaf pine forests in the American South are gone
-
60% of fish are harvested at an unsustainable rate
-
59% of Megafauna species are threatened with extinction (Think Gorilla, Giraffe, Polar Bears, Cheetahs, etc.)
The list goes on.
In one generation, we’ve lost SO MUCH LIFE. And for what?
And it’s not for lack of trying to save these species. Conservationists have been working tirelessly at this problem for decades are likely the only reason we haven’t lost everything. Conservation works, it is working. It’s staving off extinction.
So why are we still in crisis? We need more conservation action. It’s as simple as that. We need more.
And if we need more conservation, we need more conservationists.
We think the
It’s time we face the biodiversity crisis head on. We aim to use storytelling to inject a catalyst into the modern conservation movement and fuel the next generation of conservationists - not with doom and gloom - but with hope. We aim to inspire, we educate, communicate the stakes involved and give hope for solutions. Conservation is brimming with hope. Our society is starved for reasons to be hopeful. This is our way to turn hope into action.
FOCUS AREAS
This project recognizes that current media in the realm of conservation storytelling is often created as fundraising materials and is therefore ultimately catered to the donor class. This project's target audience will be young people and the professional class. The content will be much more targeted to specific actions and outcomes. This content isn't designed to raise money or sell ads. It is intended to aid in the conservation process and collaborate closely with state and federal agencies, communities and global conservation organizations.
Short Form Documentary
Create film festival worthy films that feature characters and subjects within the biodiversity conservation space. We aim to feature people who are charismatic and inspiring representatives for the work in research, conservation and social engagement. Every story should illustrate and represent the broader messaging goals. Each film should be produced in conjunction for implementation into feature length content suitable for streaming distribution.
Education

Birds bring out the explorers in us all. There’s a rush in spotting a new bird that drives a motivation to travel and sacrifice time, money and comfort in the quest for a sighting. It's this passion that drives the need to understand our birds and participate in their protection.
Social
Habitat loss and window collisions are a major source of mortality of birds each year. Sanctuaries offer a literal lifeline for migrating birds passing over our cities and there are behavioral changes that can save birds from window collisions. From lights out programs, to anti collision stickers, to changing the way we design future buildings - there are small and large steps that can be taken to protect birds from urban centers.
HELP
SAVE
BIRDS
As bird populations crash in North America, we are at a tipping point for many species. Can we, as humans, understand the stresses we’re putting on birds and put into place the changes needed for future generations to be able to see the birds that we still have today?

We think stories play an important role in the conservation of birds. You can help bring this story to life. Together, we can inspire more people to work toward saving the birds.
ARTIST STATEMENT
We've been chasing birds with our cameras for more than a decade. Our conservation storytelling has allowed us to learn about the birds around us and develop our own views of the current state of bird conservation. We know birds mean so much to so many people and we know humans can be doing a lot more to ensure their survival. This is our effort to play a role in saving the birds.
